It is with saddened hearts we announce the Memorial Service for National Forest Service Officer Kristine Fairbanks. Officer Fairbanks was shot and killed while investigating a suspicious vehicle near Sequim, Washington on Saturday, September 10, 2008. Officer Fairbanks is survived by her husband Brian, 15 year old daughter Whitney, father John Willits, stepmother Pat, and brother John Willits, Jr. She had served with the U.S. Forest Service for 22 years in Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations. 

The 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service on Monday, September 29, will be held at Port Angeles Civic Field, located at 2nd and Race Street, in Port Angeles. The location is 4 blocks left (south) of the incoming US 101 into Port Angeles from the east. This service is open to the public with anticipated attendance of 3,000 to 5,000.
