Mount Rainier National Park Ranger Nick Hall was attempting to help an injured climber just before 5 p.m. when he fell from the 13,700 foot level to about 10,000 feet.
7/5 Update: The body of Ranger Hall was recovered on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Retrieval efforts had been delayed due to snow, clouds, and avalanche dangers.
A Note from Nick's Parents
We are both grieving and celebrating Nick, as we are made aware of the unfolding tragic events of Thursday, June 21, 2012.
We are proud of our son's decision and involvement in EMS/Mtn.Rescue. We sincerely hope the loss of our son will draw appropriate attention to the hazards, safety, and commitment involved in the profession and sport he so loved.

A private memorial service for Climbing Ranger Nick Hall was held Friday, June 29, 2012.
